Our Road Pilots receive exceptional training, compensation and respect because we know there are no shortcuts to customer service excellence.
Our mission of providing a higher standard of service begins with our Road Pilots. We believe they are the most important factor in providing superior service. At Green Transportation, they are not just a number. The term “Road Pilots” was trademarked especially for them, out of respect for all they do.
Our office is family and pet friendly. We offer an excellent pay and benefits package. But pay and benefits are not enough to show our appreciation, so we have also developed an environment of respect and trust for our Road Pilots.
Ensuring happy employees requires us to actively think of ways to make their jobs and lives easier. Our Pilots enjoy regular outbound routes to the extent possible as dictated by our freight. The outbound loads all depart from our service center in Holland, MI.
Our inbound loads are pre-arranged, which saves time and gives our Road Pilots 1 ½ – 2 days of home-time each week. They receive one week of time off every 8 weeks. Also, we run a weekly with with the option of direct deposit.
Waste is not an option, and avoiding it is a major goal for everyone at Green. We believe that our Pilots are the best in the industry, and we strive every day to ensure it remains true. If you would like to learn how you could become a Road Pilot, contact us, and we’ll help find the best route for you!
We expect the best from our employees and we reward them with top pay and the respect they deserve. Out of respect for what they do, we call our drivers “Road Pilots”.
Green Transportation was founded with the mission of raising the standards in the transportation industry. Our West Coast service has 100% team availability for timeliness and DOT compliance. We encourage customers to check out our safety rating.
Our applicants are carefully screened during the hiring process. They must agree to abide by our “code of conduct” and participate in training on self-reliance, safety, customer service and freight handling.
Additionally, all applicants must agree to be present and assist in unloading their trailer and to treat our customers with respect. They agree to depart at a predetermined time, to “chain up” when necessary and to travel “out-of-route” to avoid inclement weather. Finally, our well-trained Road Pilots agree to be monitored on their shifting, idling and speed limit observance in our Green Fuel Savings Program.
Our equipment was chosen for reliability and efficiency. Our tractor fleet averages less than 2 years of age. We run 100% air ride logistics trailers. Our entire fleet is professionally maintained, with sophisticated service software that captures data from each 80-point inspection to ensure maximum equipment uptime. In addition to this rigorous mechanical maintenance, our tractors and trailers are routinely cleaned, inside and out. Premium equipment, meticulously maintained and driven by Green Transportation Road Pilots delivers reliable service.
Here at Green Transportation, a higher standard of service is surprisingly affordable. By closely partnering with a premium LTL carrier, we can offer head load rates whereby customers pay only for the space used in our trailer. There is no delay to the schedule with head loads. Discounts can exceed 30% depending upon the size of the shipment.
The head load shipper saves money, the LTL shipper saves money and there is more revenue for Green Transportation. This revenue is shared with our Road Pilots, whose dependable service recycles to benefit the shipper.
When empty space is used instead of wasted, it does amazing things for our planet. 20 feet of empty space in a trailer traveling 2,000 miles is responsible for over 3,000 pounds of unnecessary carbon dioxide emissions. Every time 53 feet of empty space is used instead of being wasted, one less truck will be on our roadways. This reduces road congestion, road wear and the potential for collisions. Green Transportation uses every possible cubic foot of space on their trailers because it’s the responsible thing to do.
